January 1 – Annual New Years Day Dive
February 1 – Extreme Dive Club Meeting
February 17-24, 2018 or Feb 24 – March 3, 2018 – Group Trip to Cozumel
Guys, it is that time of year… Santa will be here just before you know it… but you still have to find those perfect gifts for your loved ones on your Christmas shopping list. Today we have a treat for you… We have gone through and collected the best dive gear for $100 or less.
These are those accessory type things you may want to add to your packages or maybe you already have your gear and are looking for those cute little “Knick-knacks” just to finish out your look. Never fear, we have you covered.
Number 1 goal… make safe divers. Number 2 goal… Make you look smoking hot. Haha… I believe the word you’re looking for is… Anyway.
We made it.. This is the first day of 2017 and we posted 366 photos in 2016. Whew! Today was also the New Year’s Day dive. I heard the water temperature was about 50˚F. Did the blogger dive? Heck no! but we had 10 divers brave the cold plus we ran into the Benton County Dive Team. I would like to say our youngest diver, Calder La Due, is 10 years old and he completed his SCUBA certification, we had 2 female divers, Rachele Lord and Tiffany Hayworth. Tiffany decided to sing a pretty note to us when her head hit the water in the soprano range followed by a “religious prayer.” Three newer divers, Sonny Johnson, Ryan Paul, and Logan Montgomery, came to brave the cold. And the rest of us stayed dry on land. Dan La Due said he wanted to kick the guy who decided he should dive every month in the head… but he can’t kick that high. Now, if you are keeping count, I’ve only accounted for 7 of our 10 divers. The other three consisted of Doug Lord, Chris Parrish, and Dan Hayworth. I am at a loss for words to describe those three. But I know you came here to see the last 9 photos of the year. By the way, we’ve been scheming and planning for what the post will be about next year and we have a good one for you… so stay tuned and come see what else we have in store for next year. Oh wait, this year, we’re in 2017 NOW! Happy New Year!
358 – 12.23.2016 – Pete is giving someone the Evil eye, I just hope it wasn’t me!!
Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas… only 2 days late… Sometimes it happens and that’s okay. So I’m here to tell you that this has been a whirlwind of a Christmas holiday season. I’d like to share an epiphany I had the other day… I’ve shared it on my personal blog and on Facebook so if you read either of those you’re probably sick of hearing but… here’s a thought. They are wanting to call it a holiday tree to be less offensive… well holidays are all inclusive right? A holiday could be Memorial Day or Valentine’s Day or Christmas or Thanksgiving or the Fourth of July, you get the picture. So does that mean since it’s a holiday tree we can leave it up year round? I’ve mentioned before, many times, that January is kind of a let down month. You have all these beautiful decorations up to and lights and get togethers and etc etc etc (I use etc a lot), then comes January and there’s cold weather and sometimes even snow and ice. No more Christmas lights. No more get togethers. Nothing. It isn’t really until February 14 or there before when Valentine’s Day decorations start springing up, and even they aren’t nearly as popular as Christmas, so poor January gets the bad end of the deal.
Moving on… Maybe some of you noticed that there wasn’t a blog post last week. This is actually the post that should have been posted on December 21st, and you were let down because there weren’t pretty pictures to look at. Well it was mentioned on Facebook that Grady was well, he was in the hospital and then the Christmas season. Sometimes it is okay to take a break. Plus the fact that if I broke it up by Wednesday’s we’d have actually had a week 53 and there are only 52 weeks in a year so I took the remaining days (December 14-December 31) and split them up between the last two “week” posts. Okay okay, so I’ve proven I can do math but then there is this issue that, the post should have gone live on December 23 with my logic. Well you have me there. I didn’t do it. Not that I didn’t think about doing it, I just didn’t do it. I hope you’ll forgive me. And now that I’ve taken 2 paragraphs to say this… Let the pictures roll!
349 – 12.14.2016 – Hospital stays are never fun, especially around the holidays….
Last night our SCUBAPRO Rep Scott was here. By the end of the evening I think he was ready to leave us and head home as quickly as possible. We laughed. We giggled. We may have made inappropriate comments. We may have embarrassed people. We may have done a lot of things, but we also got to see some of the new SCUBAPRO product line and boy is there a lot of good stuff instore. Remember, Christmas is just around the corner… almost literally, but not quite…. So if you haven’t told Santa all the SCUBA gear that you’d like for Christmas, I’d find his phone number and call him. They say during the Christmas season that the parcel picks up and takes longer to deliver, so if you’re worried, just call Santa. I’ve seen his number. It exists. I haven’t called it but supposedly you can call it and speak to the big Jolly man. As we speak there are 1 1/2 more Wednesday’s, 2 more Thursday’s, 2 more Friday’s, 2 more Saturday’s, and 1 Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. That’s all that is left of this Christmas season. Someone please hand me a tissue because I might start crying. I love this time of year and sadly hate January. I’ll apologize again to January. Poor January gets the short end of the stick. Although I do have to question and wonder why people equate Snowmen to Christmas because in our part of the country at least, we get snow in January, February, and sometimes even March… not so much in December. Maybe a light dusting but that’s about it. So just a question I have. Someone please explain to me. And on that note, I’m out!
342 – 12.7.2016 – If you like snow… you were in luck. If you don’t, you were still in luck. This was pretty much the extent of it although I hear there is more predicted later this week.
Were you worried that I had forgotten to write the post for this week? Well fear not, I didn’t forget, I just thought I’d try something and write it in the afternoon. See if more people would read. Just a little experiment. Since I like to pass of interesting information… I’m using Firefox for my browser (Google Chrome and I are having issues and might be breaking up… haha). Firefox has a search engine box up at the top next to the http address bar in case you didn’t know that. In my search box is the word derriere. It can’t help but make me wonder why in the world I was talking about a derriere. Aren’t you glad I shared that information with you? Well here’s another piece, if you like Christmas music and have Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 17 is playing round the clock Christmas music as is channel 58. In my opinion 58 is better because it’s all country where the other isn’t, although I do love some Frank Sinatra and others. I have Frank Sinatra’s Christmas album on my phone, that’s why I called him out specifically. Michael Buble is always a good choice too, but he and his wife recently got some bad news. One of their kids was diagnosed with cancer so you might keep their family in your prayers. He’s cancelled all concerts indefinitely until his family is well. That is the news I have on this cold Fall day. Remember, we don’t actually hit “winter” until December 21, 2016. And I was just told I mispelled my last name so that means I need to run.
335 – 11.30.2016 – Getting the meat ready for November Dive Club
