Extreme Diver Interview – Ryan Paul

I told you a few weeks ago it was coming… And now, it is here. Time for diver interviews once again! Our first victim, Diver to Interview is Ryan Paul. The questions are the same as you’ve seen previously, except we added one question… What is your favorite dive gear and why? Why would we ask that? Well obviously because we’re going through dive gear here lately. If only I would have had the forethought how many years ago… So without further ado, Ryan.

How did you get started diving?

I had always wanted to try it but never realized that diving in Missouri (Away from the ocean in general) was very popular. Then a friend told me about Extreme Sports and I’ve been hooked since.

How long have you been diving?

It will be a year in August.

How many dives do you make in a typical year?

So far I have 49 dives.

What other hobbies do you have?

There are other hobbies? 😉

Where is your favorite place to dive?

I really like Stockton Lake because of the convenience. But, Beaver lake is my favorite for actual dive conditions. (And there is free food if Extreme Sports is there!)

What is your most comical dive experience?

My brother and I swam into a rough neighborhood and were attacked by vicious Perch. It was hilarious and they loved the camera.

What is your favorite piece of dive gear?

The Galileo Luna computer. It makes keeping track of everything so much easier.

What is your occupation?

I’m a Machinist.

Words of wisdom/tips or tricks for fellow divers?

Try to dive with more experienced divers as often as you can. And, you can dive a lot more if you own your own gear.
