Do you know how to make someone look at you funny? Walk up to someone you just met, ask them for an interview and then say, “You have really pretty eyes.” Why yes, yes this did happen to our diver interviewee, Kate Stuppy. Next time you see her, check out her eyes, but don’t be creepy about it… I think I have that market cornered . Sorry! A friend recommended it.

2010.
How many dives do you make in a typical year?
Between 20 & 30 depending on the trip.
What other hobbies do you have?
Painting, research that’s basically my life. Watch certain shows. Read.
Where is your favorite place to dive?
Central South America.
What is your most comical dive experience?
The one where Dan did a prank on my 100th dive. They pretended that I was completely out of air. The dive master was in on it and said this will be the last time we dive. Once we get out of the harbor we can’t come back and he kept ignoring me. Eventually they let me know they had tanks for me. They pretended I didn’t have any air so I couldn’t get my 100th dive.

Words of wisdom/tips or tricks for fellow divers?
Always be prepared. Always check your equipment. If you’re going out of country make sure to test your equipment. If you haven’t dove in a while, dive a time or two to refresh yourself. It helps test your equipment and your skills before leaving.
