Le Chef {Cozumel, Mexico}

So if you happen to be the adventurous type when it comes to eating (I tend to think of myself as a foodie, not going to lie), do I have the place for you today! Sadly, you’re going to have to book a trip to Cozumel, Mexico and while you’re at it, book a second seat for me too :).

In February when the group was down there, one day Clemente was telling Grady about this restaurant they needed to try that was famous for their Lobster and Bacon Sandwiches. When they came back from Cozumel the group was bragging about how fabulous this restaurant was and more so this sandwich, so that was added to the list of “things to do” while we were on the trip in May.

The restaurant you ask?

Le Chef

They are known for their outdoor seating but we were there in the middle of the afternoon and it was a bit warm so we chose the indoor seating instead.

The menu, which just so happens to be posted on the wall outside the restaurant.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, read it in Spanish!!

When we got there they pushed tables together for our large group. I should mention now that Grady and Scott got a separate table, ordered, ate, and were done eating and paying by the time we got our drinks. haha. Nicely played boys, nicely played.

This was brought out as a starter for the whole table. It was a crostini topped with olive oil, garlic, and a nice tomato similar to bruschetta.

The blogger in training really likes soup. That makes it easy for us to share the different soups at these different restaurants, and again this restaurant did a great job of bringing out the 2 year old’s food before everyone else so she wasn’t having to wait. Thank you!

This was Chicken Noodle Soup. Chicken broth with vegetables, chicken, and pasta.

Half the group got salads to start while the other half didn’t. It was funny, there was a divide line on the table, this side did and that side didn’t. This was a half Greek Salad: Lettuce, cucumber, red onion, cherry tomatoes, black olives, capers, and feta with an olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. I tried this. It was very good and very light. If there’s one thing I can tell you about me, typically I don’t eat anything but Ranch dressing. Although every once in a while I’ll eat a Caesar Salad. This dressing was very tasty.

This was a half Mixed salad: Lettuce, carrots, cucumber, red onion, chick peas, mushrooms, black olives, capers, tomatoes, and avocado in a vinaigrette.

Now for the main reason to come here… The Lobster and Bacon Sandwich. It is on the “Musts” list. I am not much of a seafood person, I’ve just always been willing to try a bite. I tried a bite of this and almost could say this was better than what I had. Yes, it was that good in my opinion and obviously it was extremely good for all who ordered it. No one complained except that they wanted more. My mother-in-law said she couldn’t even leave any of it to waste it was that good.

I mentioned I’m not much of a seafood person but I will eat shrimp as long as it isn’t fishy tasting. I ordered the Fettuccine Cambozola with Shrimp. Fresh spinach fettuccine with cambozola cheese sauce, mushrooms, parmesan, and sautéed shrimp. If you’re nosey, Cambozola is a cow’s milk cheese that is a combination of a French soft-ripened triple cream cheese and Italian Gorgonzola. Gorgonzola is similar to Bleu Cheese but not quite. I must say this pasta was delicious. My shrimp were a little on the fishy side for my liking, but I ate all of them minus the one I gave to Mark to try. Mark said the shrimp was fantastic. He likes seafood, so use that judgement!

This was also on the “Musts” list. It was Shrimp “Ajillo” Pizza. I didn’t try any but I can tell you there wasn’t any left. I was told it was delicious to the last bite.

Now, don’t worry if you aren’t a seafood person… You can always find other options. This is the Chicken Breast Sandwich. I was told it was extraordinary.

I mentioned in the post on Rolandi’s that you need to sit near people who allow you to take photos of their food and even though they look at you a little weird, they’ll let you. This was on the “Musts” list, it was the catch of the day. Okay, okay blogger lady, what is that? Well I’m so glad you asked. This was Red Snapper with a Lobster sauce, rice, and vegetables. Again, I didn’t try any but I was told it was delicious.

I hope all this food is making you hungry… hungry to quickly book a trip to Cozumel and buy that extra plane ticket for me… I’m just saying. Hey, we can also dive while were there. I’m a good dive buddy. Okay, okay, seriously, if you find yourself on one of the trips to Cozumel, I highly recommend this place.

Now it is in a different location for our May 2017 than it was in February 2017, but the location for this May trip… (just make sure you check the address so you go to the correct place!!)

Address: 5ta Av X 3 y 5 sur 380, Centro, 77600 San Miguel de Cozumel, Q.R., Mexico
