Extreme Diver Interview – Celwyn West

Did you get a chance to make it to the Annual Warehouse Sale last week? If not you missed out on some great deals! I think one of my personal favorite parts about the warehouse sale was the fact I got to talk to and interview people in person. I find that more personal when doing these interviews . One person that I was able to interview is today’s Diver, Celwyn West. I forgot to ask him if he had pictures he could send me so I just went and snagged a few off of his facebook page (please don’t be mad! but I’ll remove them if you want!!). So let’s get started with today’s interviewee, Celwyn, take it away!

How did you get started diving?

I got started diving in the military (army). Then I laid off in 1976 when I got out of the military. I didn’t get back in the water again until 2009.

How long have you been diving?

Since 2009

How many dives do you make in a typical year?

I would say around 60

What other hobbies do you have?

None right now.

Where is your favorite place to dive?

That’s kind of a hard question. Cozumel is the only place I’ve dove with Extreme Sports but I’ve dove in Florida and I like it. The water is a lot rougher in Florida though, it’ll kick your butt.

What is your most comical dive experience?

I would have to say the one Kim Brungard told about the hot dog experience. (click on Kim’s name to go to that link and read, the story is great!)

What is your occupation?

Disability

Words of wisdom/tips or tricks for fellow divers?

Practice your skills and always be aware of your surroundings. Keep your equipment up to date and working. I’m a solo diver but I would recommend diving with a buddy is a preferred method.
