Diver Behind the Blog – Nicole Willoughby

Hi, my name is Nicole Willoughby. (Check out my interview! here)

Deb asked me to introduce myself since I am the resident blogger here on the website. (Just in case you didn’t know, it is extremely difficult to write about yourself.) My husband, Mark and I became certified Scuba divers in July 2013.

I’ve had a lot of people ask how we became involved in the scuba diving world. On my personal blog in September 2010, I created a list of 101 things to complete in 1001 days (2 ¾ years).

Some of my goals were extremely attainable while others seemed extremely far-fetched. One of the goals was to try scuba diving. At that time I thought it was far-fetched. In late January 2013, Amy (La Due) Harper and Jason La Due were talking to the Cupp’s and us about an upcoming Try it Tuesday where you could come to try scuba diving in a swimming pool. We decided to go give it a try, what could it hurt. From day 1 we were hooked. We signed up for the July class and as they say, the rest is history. Since becoming open water certified, Mark and I have also completed the Limited Penetration Wreck Diving certification & CPROX certification.

Aside from Scuba Diving, my other hobbies include riding/showing Cutting horses, photography, cake decorating, and cooking (my goal someday is to write a cookbook, who wants to buy it… lol).

One piece of advice I have for anyone who thinks they’d like to try scuba diving would be, go for it. Try it Tuesday was where we got our chance and we had a blast.
