First and foremost, Happy New Year from Extreme Sports Scuba! We hope that you and your family had a very Merry Christmas and here is to a great New Year! Every year on January 1, Extreme Sports Scuba loads up and heads to the lake; the goal is to start out the year with a nice dive.
On January 1st, the day started out gorgeous. The sun was out, the sky was clear; weather.com said that the temperature was 45 degrees at almost 11 am.
20 divers showed up to take the plunge into Beaver Lake.
Other divers showed up to cheer on those that were brave enough to dive in the 45-degree lake water and stand around and chat.
As we’ve all learned, we know how to eat and the food didn’t let us down. There was Taco Soup, Chili, New Years Corn Bread Casserole, Black-eyed peas (including the dime), Brownies, Chips, Oranges, and Bananas.
Toward the end of the day as everyone was getting out of the water and changing into their regular street clothes a wind gust blew up and accidentally blew over the changing tent where stood a man who will remain nameless (what happens at the lake, stays at the lake) in a sweatshirt and underwear. The tent was quickly picked back up and replaced over him.
Certifications achieved for the New Year:
Congratulations Larry Benning for completing Open Water.
Congratulations Lee Lake for completing Solo.
Even with the tent incident, this New Years Day dive got 2014 off to a Great start in diving for the new year.
